Gig Round Up
Where: 944 Magazine on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood.
When: Thursday, November 12, 2009
This little event was put on by Koffeehouse Productions, which puts on tons of acoustic type performances all over Los Angeles. This one had free booze. Level of awesomeness through the roof.
Attendance was at 100+. We were along side 20+ performers that night performing one song each. We chose “Scraper in the Sky” cause Valentina gets what she wants even after losing miserably in a coin toss.
What a talented bunch of songwriters and performers that night. Honorable mentions go to: Juliet Roberts, Nadia Fay, John Clinebell, Paulie Pesh, Amanda Clark, Mando, and bizzaro us (Melinda Ortner & ???? ???????).
Juliette showed up with smiles on and took the lovely photos above. Kirbie was loving it. Alex P came ready to embrace the future. Niantic ready to abuse the open bar. Also, Pauly Boy came by but didn’t get a chance to perform. That was a shame cause he’s a treat.
It’s also worth mentioning the time machine to the left of me in the pictures. It’s actually a state of the art recording booth that mixes you on the fly. It’s called MyStudio. It sounds amazing.
Thanks again to Chris and everyone at Koffeehouse for having us perform. Well done.
This is Dante. This is Valentina. And we’re DanteValentina. Valentina found a magical key on the ground and is wearing it around her neck forever. That’s disgusting. And this is a new song that we wrote a week ago. That we wrote 5 days ago. Whatever. The point is it’s new, ok.
Where: Casa Princesa in Eagle Rock (Los Angeles, CA)
When: Thursday night, November 5th, 2005.
This was a pretty great gig! It was our first 40 minute set, and we had 8 songs to play for everyone! Also, our good friends Ryan and Chris played right before us, in their band Niantic, so it felt like we were playing for our friends vs. strangers. Zillah made it out to see both bands, as well as our good friends Jason, Justin and Ali… to which Valentina made very suggestive eyes to during “Eternal Flame”.
The Set List:
1. “Faker”- Could have gone better, the house piano was WAY out of tune and poor Dante’s guitar sounded out of sync because of it. He then tuned everything to the sad piano.
2. “Landslide”- this is a Valentina original and quickly starting to feel like a DanteValentina arrangement.
3. “Scraper in the Sky”- this is our newest song and Valentina’s current favorite. Felt really good to play.
4. “Land of the Sun” - a Dante original and extremely fun to perform.
5. “Eternal Flame” - Ali was eye-violated during this one, thanks to Valentina.
6. “Under My Skin” - this song was written on Hallow’s Eve and is very different from the rest of our originals. Cool, sexy and a little naughty… let’s be honest.
7. “Balloon Boy” - Yes. Written about THE Balloon Boy. Written before we found out it was a hoax. When it was an awesome, terrifying, f-ing beautiful fantasy.
8. “Taking Chances” - ‘This is the first song we wrote on the first day we met’. ‘Awwww.’ ‘But we’re not dating.’
Money Made: $0.00
Current Band Fund: $6.00
Come to it? I mean, only if you want. But you should… unless you don’t want to, in which case- don’t. But you have to.
Dante and Valentina will be playing our first 45 MINUTE-LONG SET tonight at the Casa Princesa in Eagle Rock. It is FREE… and in Eagle Rock, for all you Eagle Rock-ers.
We’re on at 9:30 ish, but come early to support everyone else!
4527 York Blvd.

We lost Valentina to FarmVille a couple of months ago. It’s good to have her back.
Introducing… our band mascot, GHOST.
Dante and Valentina gigging at 2nd Street Jazz Club! (but not playing jazz).
Valentina kind of looks like a man.
That is Dante’s best feature.
Dante here… doing some weirdo dream reporting. Enjoy. Don’t judge.
Sooo… Valentina and I are at Dodgers stadium watching some kind of celebrity baseball game. I know this because Anthony Kiedis is running the bases with a bunch of other LA notables. But every time there’s a commercial break a stand-in or “pinch runner” takes his place at base. Anyway, the game continues and I notice Valentina has a baby’s body, but a normal-sized head. I then realize I have the same. And we begin fighting!
Awful fighting. Brother-sister bloodsport kind of fighting. So our parents present us an open lunch box that has some kind of MIDI file inside. Well, not so much a file, but more of a MIDI wave form. Like, blocks of where the sounds would be. Sooo Valentina and I start improvising and singing along and we become very well-behaved. In fact, so well-behaved that another couple comes over to our parents and comments on how well-behaved children we are.
My professional interpretation? We must start performing improvised baby sounds dressed in onesies.
